This book will throw you a curve ball in every page – with a throwback to the Jackals torture chamber – we get to see some insight into Avery’s mind frame and why she is on a journey of finding who she is and who she wants to be now her serial killer father isn’t hunting her and a psychopathic crime lord isn’t planning war on her best friend – just another day in the bay.įrom the blossoming and absolutely swoon worthy relationship between Avery and Aodhan, the rage inducing and incredibly frustrating interactions with Atticus (Or the Crow depending on the scene), awkward and downright suspicious interactions with Luca and the absolutely amazing friendship with Illi (The Butcher – who has his own incredible news in the book). Please be aware if you haven’t read the Hannaford Prep series, you won’t have a clue who many of the characters are or the situations they are talking about – so go read that kick-ass series first (my review is here in case you were wondering) then come back to be introduced to the absolute QUEEN that is Avery Beaumont. As with all of J Bree’s books, I will start off by saying – she knocked it out of the park! As with her usual female leads, Avery is the ice queen we know and love, a badass ruthless woman with a killer glare, a deadly smile and a knockout body…and she does it all in heels sharp as knives and high enough they could kill a man – Not that she would have to, thats what she has family for…
